Hybrid cars controversy

One of the biggest controversies in the world is the one concerning the hybrid car. This subject is being discussed over the internet, in specialized magazines, and on TV. The hybrid car represents the future way of cars and it’s the best solution now. It uses an engine with gas combustion as well as one which runs on water. As we all know, the hybrid car reduces the dioxide carbon emissions. This is very significant, considering the fact that campaigns about global warming represent an important issue.

There are also voices that criticize the hybrid car considering it a less profitable alternative. People think that the car imposes a limited speed, the number of miles you can drive is also limited, and the engine is not very efficient, but that is very false.

Generally, hybrid cars are more expensive. However, you can get your extra money spent on the car back, because you reduce the amount of gas you use. So in time, everything you paid for will be returned.

The idea that a hybrid car would be a mediocre choice has been demolished by the car companies, who came with new hybrid car models. If you risk of being in danger when using an electric car because it might stop, the hybrid car system is covered by a traditional system. Of course, some people wouldn’t like a hybrid car if they want powerful and loud engines but if we concern about protecting our planet we should leave those thoughts behind.

Electric cars also have some problems because of their batteries. Batteries can take up a big amount of space in the car, they are heavy and they can be affected by the weather, especially cold weather. Also, batteries will contribute to pollution as well as traditional cars.

Choosing hydrogen as an alternative for transport is one of the best things any well developed country should do, if they respect the environment. This also includes building hydrogen fueling stations and most countries fear that they will invest in something that has no profit. But we need to make a change quickly and use a resource that regenerates, like water and hydrogen, otherwise we will face a natural disaster.

The engines which are based on hydrogen use fuel cells. Fuel cells generate electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen. But these fuel cells are very expensive and even if they would be produced in large quantities they would still be expensive. Until we find an alternative to costly parts, we need to use what we already have like hybrid cars.
Also other companies won’t invest in fuelling stations because people rarely expressed their will of buying cars that run on hydrogen.

Governments also need to make big pro hybrid cars campaigns in order to keep the population informed on the risks of still owning a traditional car. But with things moving towards disaster, the government’s help may arrive too late. At one point people will understand the benefits of using hybrid cars, let’s just hope it isn’t too late.
